Photo of the Week – Taipei from Elephant Mountain

I had two overseas trips in 2023, to 4 countries. My only new country was Taiwan – just a quick 3 day layover in Taipei. On the first day we trekked the thousand steps up Elephant Mountain (well really just a big hill) to see

Photo of the Week – Memories of Canada

Hang on to your hats everyone! I have booked my first post COVID-19 overseas trip! And it’s back to Canada I go, for a third time. Can’t wait! Read on to find out why I am going back again. The main reason I am going

Photo of the Week – Jumping in Beijing

Photo of the Week – Jumping in Beijing

While in Beijing, one of my travel buddies introduced me to her infamous ‘jump shot’. I soon adopted it as a practise from then on, and together we have jumped our way through China, South Korea, Vietnam, Peru, Bolivia and Chile. This was my first

Photo of the Week… Walking for the March Charge

I am currently participating in the March Charge to raise money for the Cancer Council of Australia, in honour of my dad, who passed away in December. Luckily I live in a beautiful part of Sydney with many walking tracks and hikes, the Northern Beaches,

Photo of the Week… Boats on the Yangtze River

I love when you just look somewhere at the right time and capture a little moment from one of your travels. Like the cute bugs I spotted in the Malaysian Jungle. Or the light show as it pulsed up the sides of the Eiffel

Photo of the Week … Borneo Downpour

Photo of the Week … Borneo Downpour

Sydney is wet at the moment. Very wet. It has been pouring on and off all month. It has to be one of the wettest Octobers on record. And the rain has been ruining plans, as it does. Weddings, parties, picnics, open studios, sport… all

Photo of the Week… Lake Titicaca

Photo of the Week… Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca was one of those places I had dreamed about going. A far off place I had learnt about through my schooling days, or maybe at university. The highest lake in the world? Sounds like a sight I need to see. I made it

Photo of the Week…Koh Samui Flame Thrower

I love this shot! Taken on a beach in Koh Samoi, Thailand, at a typical beach party. The beach party scene is not really my thing. Not because I don’t like drinking and dancing, but the whole ‘drunken tourist in Thailand’  display really doesn’t sit

Photo of the Week…Samoa Reflections

Photo of the Week…Samoa Reflections

This was the view from our lagoon fale when I checked in at Le Vasa resort in Western Samoa. What an amazing view to great me as I stepped onto our balcony, which was right on the edge of this lagoon. A perfect way to

Photo of the week … Geysers at 5000m

You don’t really know what to expect at 5000m altitude. I certainly didn’t expect to come across an active sulfur area, complete with roaring geysers. But that is what we found as we climbed to the highest altitude I have ever reached, in the altiplano

Photo of the Week… Sand Dunes

Photo of the Week… Sand Dunes

If you visit Peru, I recommend a trip to the sand dunes and oasis town of Huacachina. We had a very enjoyable afternoon of riding in a sand buggy and riding sand boards down these amazing dunes!

Photo of the Week…Roots

Photo of the Week…Roots

This is the path I take every weekend as I descend down 100+ stairs to the beach. Coming up is always a killer, especially on my dodgy knees (seriously concerned about Inca Trail in 60 or so days…). However painful the post beach climb is,

Photo of the Week … Mollymook

I feel so lucky every time I visit Mollymook, on the NSW South Coast. That means I feel lucky a lot as I tend to visit about 4 times a year, seeing as my parents have retired nearby. The South Coast of NSW features some

Photo of the Week – Budapest Baths

Photo of the Week – Budapest Baths

We loved visiting the Szechenyi Baths in Budapest. We discovered them on our self guided walk around Budapest and its parks. We decided to revisit and have a swim on our last afternoon in Budapest, just before boarding an overnight train to Poland. A perfect

Photo of the Week – Brighton Beach

Photo of the Week – Brighton Beach

I had been meaning to visit Brighton Beach on England’s coast for the whole 8 months I was living in London. It’s an easy day trip that I finally made in my last month, when I was quickly ticking off my England “To Do’s” –

Photo of the week … Hilo

Photo of the week … Hilo

After lusting after Hawaii for months… (who me? FOMO?) we visited Big Island last Autumn. We stayed in Pahoa near Hilo and were given this hot tip for a location where you will more than likely see and swim with sea turtles. The beach above,

Photo Of The Week … Ubud

Photo Of The Week … Ubud

From the gazillion people who had visited Bali before me, the message was clear – it’s mandatory to visit Ubud. A lot of people also recommended staying in Ubud too. We didn’t have time to stay there and our rushed day trip didn’t allow us

Photo Of The Week … Palm Beach with purple flowers

Photo Of The Week … Palm Beach with purple flowers

Palm beach is a ten minute drive from The Artist’s house. We often drive up just to take in the scenery and get out of the house. I love that it’s always different, depending on the time of day, season and weather. This glorious spring

Photo Of The Week … Kapiti Coast

Photo Of The Week … Kapiti Coast

On a clear day, the views as you drive the coast from Wellington up the Kapiti Coast are pretty spectacular. The highway weaves around the coast and you are treated to views of the Pacific Ocean and Kapiti Island.

Photo Of The Week… Trees

Photo Of The Week… Trees

We drove through this gorgeous temperate rainforest at Depot Beach on the NSW South Coast. We had a picnic right on the beach, complete with kangaroos and had the whole place to ourselves! Complete with bird calls and winter sunshine it was a perfect lunch
