Within 20 mins of my house I’m on country roads

Within 20 mins of my house I’m on country roads like this…. Back in July I headed inland to Wollombi following the old convict trail north. You pass a number of old bridges and walks built by convicts in the early 1800s. Narrow windy roads pass cute properties… we were heading to an @airbnb on an old winery for the weekend! 🌏

I’ve been to Auckland many times but this was the first time I made it out to Waiheke Island. It’s a great day trip from Auckland city by ferry. Once there you can hop on local buses or walk the many trails. Next time I’d like to make a weekend of it and check out some of the wineries! 🌏

What a hidden gem! Zealong Tea Estate just outside of Hamilton on New Zealand’s North Island is a beautifully landscaped tea plantation where you can visit the restaurant for lunch. We treated ourselves to high tea after visiting Hobbiton,, then walked around the cottage which also houses a function centre, perfect for weddings overlooking the fields. 🌏

Hobbiton! I spent a speedy four days in Auckland in July and my Kiwi friend took me to Hobbiton. I wasn’t expecting much but it was fantastic! Very comprehensive and well organised. We really had 4 seasons in one day, but it was worth the rain. Highly recommended even if you aren’t the biggest LOTR fan like me. 🌏
